Abstract

531,531. Hydraulic and fluid pressure presses. WOODHEAD & SONS, Ltd., J., and SANDERS, T. H. July 26, 1939, No. 21668. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVI] In a power press in which the frame consists of two pairs of vertical tension bars a, the pressure blocks b, c, which carry the cylinder d of the ram e and the bolster or die-head f are secured to the bars a by means of bolts g of circular or rectangular cross-section and formed with beaded ends or with tapered ends. The ram e is centralized automatically by means of inclined shackles k connected to a transversely arranged laminated spring l anchored at the middle to the underside of the lower pressure block c. For fluid presses the pressure cylinder d is accommodated in an opening in the upper pressure block, or as shown in Fig. 6 between front and rear plate frame members n to which the cylinder is secured by means of a flange o engaging a recess p in the members n and by means of wedges q driven between a shoulder r on the cylinder and the upper faces of the members n.
