Abstract

277,512. Wright, F. H. Oct. 9, 1926. Reciprocating mould-table machines.-A press is provided with a horizontally movable platen E freely supported by vertically-adjustable bearers so that it may be lifted from such bearers F by the movable pressure-member D in order to carry out the pressing operation. The bearers F are slidable on the vertical pillars A of the press frame, and are adapted to be secured in adjusted position by means such as clamping screws. Extensions G are provided on the ends of the bearers F, and for providing the free movement thereon of the platen E, rollers H are mounted either on the bearers or on the platen E. A lug F<1> is arranged on each bearer F so as to project in the downward path of the underside of the ram head D<1> and thereby prevent unnecessary movement of the latter. A series of regularlyspaced lines may be provided on the upper surface of the platen in order to assist in positioning the work-piece. The press is adapted for the manufacture of laminated glass wherein a celluloid sheet is interposed between two glass sheets.
