Abstract
252,762. Mitchell, W. A. Feb. 6, 1925. Crank shafts. - A built-up crank shaft has chain roller bearings for the crank pins and/or crank journals. The chain roller bearings are preferably as described in Specifications 121,909 or 249,607, [both in Class 12 (i), Bearings &c.]. The inner races, which are hardened, may be integral with the crank shaft by providing grooves 7, Fig. 3, for the rollers, the shaft in the region of the grooves being preferably increased in diameter. Each crank pin 1 is preferably integral with one crank web 1<a>, the intermediate web 1<b> connecting the crank pins being of H girder section. The sections are held together by cylindrical or conical parts 2<a>, 1<c>, relative twist being prevented by cotter pins 3, 8, keys, or interengaging projections or recesses.
