743,966. Crank shafts. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE AKT.-GES. Dec. 11, 1953. No. 34535/53. Class 80(2) In a built-up crank shaft, each journal between adjacent cranks is integral with a pair of webs and the associated crank pin, the free end of the journal being shrunk into a bore in the adjacent web of the next crank pin. In the four-crank arrangement shown, alternate integral units 1 or 2 each comprise a crank pin, its associated pair of webs and two journal parts, while the other units 3 or 4 each comprise only a crank pin and its associated pair of webs, an end journal 5 being shrunk into the end web of the unit 4 or integral therewith. In an alternative arrangement, all the units are identical, each with one journal, the last web having an end journal shrunk into it or integral therewith.
