183,035. Wilson, J. F. July 13, 1921. Crank shafts; securing cranks on shafts.-Built up crank-shafts are made by shrinking the webs on to portions of the shaft 3 and crank-pin 2 formed with depressions 4 into which the metal of the webs sink during contraction. The depressions 4, formed by milling, grinding, or other means, may be flats, concavities, or convex surfaces of greater radius than the shaft or crankpin, may be regularly spaced or otherwise, and may taper axially in either direction. The borings 1 of the webs are initially circular.
