Thermostats. - The regulating valve e between the condenser and the evaporator of a refrigerating compression machine is controlled automatically by the differential expansion between the valve rod d and its casing g. The red is subjected to the temperature of the compressed gas which passes from the inlet a in the casing, through the passage b, and the outlet c to the condenser, while the casing is provided with a jacket through which cooling-water is passed. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the connection of the jacket with the cooling-water discharge, from the condenser, so that failure of the cooling-water results in the expansion of the casing and consequent automatic closing of the valve. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
