Abstract

190,615. Wilkinson, W. B. March 30, 1922. Refrigerating, compression machines for. - A supplementary condenser or cooler located between the main condenser and the evaporator, comprises a coil connected at its upper end A<2> to the condenser discharge pipe and at its lower end J<2> to the evaporator, and a surrounding cylinder through which brine cooled by the evaporator is circulated. The invention is particularly adapted for carbon dioxide machines in tropical climates where the condenser cooling-water is at a relatively high temperature. The pipe A<2> leads first to the bottom of an inner coil, and the outlet pipe leads from the bottom of an outer coil. A regulating valve J<1> by which alone the expansion is regulated, is situated on the pipe J<2> outside the cylinder. The cylinder is preferably insulated by material I and an outer wood &c. jacket. A cock F<1> is provided on the brine inlet pipe K and a thermometer D<1>, pressure gauge B<1> and vent cock C<1> are fitted to the cylinder. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 3038/80, 15475/84, 11177/96, and 118,866.
