Abstract
252,042. Helps, G. Jan. 12,1925. Atmospheric gas burners. - A burner nozzle of the straight, i.e. non-radial, flame type, for use with gasfires, comprises a tube or screen 16 adjustable in the nozzle in order to vary the area of the gas passage, there being gas passages or perforations in the tube the area of which is unaffected by the adjustment. The nozzle shown in Fig. 2 is provided with an exchangeable end-piece 17. Fig. 4 shows a nozzle 14 extending across the burner tube and having slots 22 through which the gas enters it. The perforated tube 16, which has a conical end 21 to adjust the area of the nozzle, is operated by a rod 18 passing through a stuffing-box 19. In another form, the nozzle is inserted in a hole at the top of the burner tube, and extends only part of the way across it.
