Abstract
251,841. Schmeisser, H., and Schmeisser, H. Sept. 22, 1925. Breech action, slidiny breech-block.-An automatic pistol of the kind having no positive lock is provided with special firing mechanism adjustable for single-shot and continuous firing and with a safety device operated by a thumb-piece on the rear plate of the breech casing. The firing mechanism comprises a sear 13, sear-operating rod 11 having at its rear end a pawl 12, a trigger engaging the pawl 12, and an interrupter lever 6 adapted to be rocked by the reciprocating breech-block 1 and having at its rear end an arm 9 which can be adjusted by a transverse bolt 14 so that it either engages under the pawl 12, as shown in Fig. 5, for single-shot firing, or is free, as shown in Fig. 6, for continuous firing. For single-shot firing, the interrupter, when it is rocked by the breech-block, lifts the pawl 12 and breaks the connection between the sear-operating rod and the trigger. The firing pin 2 is, as shown, rigidly connected to the breech-block 1, both these parts being pressed forwards by a spring 3. The safety device comprises a rotatable disc 23, connected to an external thumbpiece 21, having a hooked arm 24 adapted to engage a flange 18 on the firing pin, the flange having a gap corresponding to the off position of the safety device.
