Composition fuel. - In agglomerating dust fuels, anthracite, lignite or bituminous coal, peat or the like with a binder of coal or petroleum tar, bitumen &c., a small amount of sodium bicarbonate is added as crystals or in solution to the binder, preferably before the binder is combined with the fuel as by introducing it, into a screwfeed conveyer for the binder. The disengagement of carbonic acid gas in the presence of the liquefied binder in the mixing machine improves the distribution of binder in the fuel mass. In an example 55 kgs. of binder and 1 kg. bicarbonate are employed per metric ton of agglomerated products.
