Dolly machines; winch machines; mangling and wringing apparatus.-In order to equalize the pressure in a fabric-washing machine where a number of fabric-lengths twisted into " ropes " are simultaneously passed between rollers, the. upper roller is divided, as indicated in Fig. 3, into two parts each supported at one end only. In Figs. 4 and 5 is shown an arrangement of the bearings permitting the movement of the axes of the upper rollers in a vertical plane. On a fixed bar 5 are pivoted arms 6 containing axially rotatable pins 7 carrying the lower parts of the bearings 71, 72 which are provided with lubricating rings 14. The bearings may be provided with balls or rollers, or made spherical.The spindles 10 may be secured to the wooden rollers 2 by means of heavy iron sleeves 11. Adjustable weights 16, 18 counterbalance the weight of the outer bearings and also increase the pressure of the rollers 2. In a modification, which renders the driving belt of the lower roller 1 on the pulleys 21, 22 clear of the bearings, arms as 7 in sleeves as 6 have extensions at right angles on which the upper rollers freely turn, and a sight lubrication-feed is provided with means preventing the excess of oil from dropping within the machine. The upper rollers 2 are arranged slightly in front of the lower roller 1 to reduce stresses.
