Abstract

250,944. Krupp Grusonwerk Akt.- Ges., F. April 15, 1925, [Convention date]. Squirting.-In a press for extruding metal rods, pipes, &c. from blocks of metal, a block 2 is brought in front of a pressing chamber 1, open at both ends, which is then pushed over the stationary block. The block is held by one or more supports 3, 4, which are in turn allowed to fall out of the way automatically by levers 7, 8 and a roller 9 carried by the chamber 1. The block may be supported by being pressed against recesses or projections 15, Fig. 3, of the abutment 6 by the extruding die 11. After extrusion the chamber 1 is withdrawn to expose part of the residue which is seized by clamping jaws 14 so that continued movement of the chamber and die extracts the residue. In making pipes a mandrel 17 is used.
