Abstract

250,745. Broch, E. W. March 31, 1925. Walls.-Concrete walls with air cavities are formed by spacing apart inner and outer slabs q, x by bolts b and casting concrete between, under, and above permanent cores which thus enclose isolated cavities. The bolts b are passed through openings in the slabs x and engage anchors a embedded in the slabs. Wooden projections or ledges e are secured to wooden blocks in the slabs and extend horizontally and vertically and determine the position of the cores. The cores consist of metal or other side plates g with stiffeners i and metal strips h to clamp the plates g to the vertical ledges e, and top plates f which rest upon the horizontal ledges e and the sides g. Reinforcements may be added to the filling.
