Abstract

Walls are formed by casting blocks in situ, tier upon tier, with spaces between, allowing time for shrinkages of each tier, and afterwards filling up the spaces between with concrete, grouting, brickwork, and the like. In the method adopted, the bottom blocks are cast of rectangular formation A and the successive tiers B of T-shape, the webs of which fill the spaces between the blocks of the lower adjacent tier. The mould employed is formed of upper and lower adjustable bars D, E secured together by levers J, these bars forming supports for the side-shutters G, the partial endshutters H being jammed between the side shutters by the clips J. The mould may be of sufficient length to cast several blocks at once, being provided with intermediate stops to form the spacing. The wall may be hollow, in which case cross-ties are provided.
