Description

W. J DVORAK. WALL CONSTRUCTION. F1 LED JUNE 30, l 922 Feb. 5, 11923. lbl
akker nag WENZEL J. DVOBAK, OF HOUSTON, TEXAS.
WALL CONSTRUCTION.
Application led June 30,
T 0 all whom 'it 'may concern.'
Be it linown that l', VVnNZnL il. DvoRAK, citizen of Czecho-Slovaltia, residing at Houston, in the county of Harris and State ot Texas, have invented certain new and usetul Improvements in Nall Construction, ot which the following is a. specication.
This invention relates to new and use-inl improvements in a` wall construction.
@ne object ot the invention is to provide a concrete wall formed of novelly constructed wall slabs, anchored together in a wall structure in the novel manner hereinafter described.
lilith the above and other objects in view the invention has particular relation to certain novel tea-tures ot construction, arrangement ot' parts and use, an example ot which is given in this specification and illustrated in Lthe accompanying drawings, wherein :j
Figure i1 is an elevation oi a section ot the wall shown partly in section.
vFigure 2 is a side ele ation ot one ot the wall slabs shown partiallj7 in section. n
Figure is a longitudinal sectional view thereof.
Figure 4f is a cross sectional view and,
Figure 5 shows an end View of a section ot the wall.
ln the drawings the numeral l designates a wall slab which is termed oit concretious material. This slab may be ot any desired dimensions, but is usually oli a length sutilcient to reach from the 'floor to 'the ceiling ot the rooni being consi'zructed. and is ot the width and thickness to give sutiicient strength, and be easily handled in erection. This` slab has a plurality ot reinforcing rods extending from the lowery end thereof throughout the length ot the slab and projectingl a distance beyond the upper end thereot. These rciniiorcing rods are arrouc'ed in pairs as il and are wrapped at tl I and lower ends with suitable l?. and intermediate their ends are anchored tog ier bj il.. rlhese rods together as shown and einare anchored bedded in the material of the slab while it is in jliilastic state. llhe margins ot the slabs have lengthwise grooves, the grooves ot adjacent edges ot adjoining slabs coinciding and forming the key ways 5 :trom top to bottom of the wall. During the process of erection these key Ways are filled with plastic material, which, when it hardens hey the slabs together and hold there in 1922. Serial No. 571,888.
alignment on opposite sides of the upwardly projecting ends of the reinforcing rods 2 are the tie rods 6, 6 which are tied to said ends by suitable ties as 7. These are provided so that when the overhead beam above the wall is poured in place it will harden around said upwardly projecting ends ot said tie rods 6 toi-ming a secure anchorage for the upper ends ot the slabs. At suitable places wooden blocks as S are embeddcd within the slabs to which picture molding and the like may be anchored. The slabs adjacent door and window openings have bolts as 9 embedded therein whose outward v projecting ends are threaded to receive the nuts lO, said bolts projecting through the facing ll ot the opening and the nuts securing said i'iacing in place.
lVhat l claim is z l. :i wall constructed of slabs formed of a concretious material, the adjacent edges ot adjoining slabs having coinciding lenggjtliwise grooves. lengthwise rods embedded in and extending lengthwise with resject to the slabs and projecting beyond the upper ends ot said slabs, wires wrapped around said rods at their respective ends and embedded in said slabs.
2. iii wall constructed ot slabs :formed of a concretious material, the adjacent edges olE adj oinino' slabs having' coinciding lengthwiso groote., lengthwise rods embedded in and extending lengthwise with respect to the slabs and j )rojecting beyond the upgel` ends of said slabs.v wires within the slab and wrapped around the respective ends oi' the rods and tie rods secured to said projecting ends.
3. )i wall construction olf slabs formed of a concretious material. the adjacent edges ot adjoiningY slabs having coinciding lengthwise grooves, lengthwise rods embedalA iu and exteuiling lengthwise with respect to the sl. l'
.es and projecting beyond the upper is olf said slabs, wires wrapped around l roc.. :it their respective ends and einbedded in said slabs, and ties anchoring seid rods together intermediate their ends.
in testimony whereof lf have signed my l WENZEL J. DVORAK.
