Machinery, utilizing inertia to obtain movements in. - In means for obtaining a jigging motion for use with flour screens &c., a pair of interengaging wheels 8, 9 rotate at equal speeds on the same plane and are so eccentrically weighted that their centres of gravity also lie in the said plane. The wheels are equally weighted and the weights are so placed that a simple reciprocating motion of the assemblage is produced, thus reducing vibration of the machine, foundations &e. The web sectors 15<1>, 15<11> of the wheels may be lightened or may be removed and replaced by a spoke 17, the sectors 15, which are relatively placed on the two wheels as shown, being heavv and integral with the rim. Weights 20 may be bolted to each side of the sectors 15. The wheels are carried in an oil-containing casing 1, and the shaft 7 of the wheel -8 extends through the casing and carries a pulley driven by a belt 31, which passes over guide pulleys 32 carried by a standard 38, 37<1> and is driven by an electromotor shaft 34. The casing 1 is attached to the shaker frame x carrying the sieves &c., the frame being supported by flat strips 43, 44 which freely permits longitudinal movement of the frame x, but damp out accidental lateral motion.
