Abstract
250,211. Meyerhofer, A. F. April 1, 1925, [Convention date]. Extracting.-Complex fluorides such as silicofluorides, borofluorides, and titanofluorides are reduced to metals by treating the complex fluoride with hydrogen, the reaction being effected without agitation of the charge.Iron in a finely divided pure state is obtained by reduction of the complex fluoride with hydrogen. The reagents used may be produced or liberated in situ. The temperature required may be obtained by internal or external heating, and reducing gases such as furnaces may be mixed with the gaseous reagents; and the reactions may be effected under pressure. Specification 249,860, [Class 1 (iii), Oxides &c., Metallic], is referred to. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that solid fuel such as coal may be added, especially when metals are to be produced and is not limited to the absence of agitation. This subject-matter does not appear in this Specification as accepted.
