250,032. Hill, W. L. April 29, 1925. Tread projections. - Detachable cleats for use on pneumatic tyres comprise tread plates d<2>, of angle-, tee-, or like section, secured to yokes d which are shaped to straddle the tyre and are foimed with extensions d<1> guided in clamps b on the spokes. The yokes are pulled inwards by springs f which may be disconnected from the arms d, when the cleats are not in use, and hooked over pins h on the clamps. In the case of disc wheels, the clamps b are replaced by a pair of angle-section rings through which the arms d are guided. When not in use, the cleats may be turned so as to lie alongside the tyre.
