Abstract

250,006. Kennedy, D. March 27, 1925. Ventilators; valves and valve apparatus.-A ventilator for ship cabins, motor vehicles, railway carriages &c. comprises a stationary flanged apertured segment 1, around which a similar shaped and apertured segment 15 is adapted to be rotated, and a lower dished disc 5 supported by a tube 6 connected to the upper part of the stationary segment 1 and provided with an annular groove 8 for the reception of an apertured and rotatable drum 9. The upper part of the drum 9 is received in a groove 10 provided in the flange 2 of the stationary segment 1. The apertures in the drum 9 are in the form of a number of ports 11, and a knob 13 is provided for rotating the drum so as to regulate the direction of the flow of air. A shaft 16 disposed in the tube 6 and connected to the rotatable segment 15 is provided at its lower end with a handle 18 whereby the position of the said segment and size of the air inlet can be regulated. In a modification, Fig. 4, the dished member is replaced by a cup-shaped member 19, and the drum is of tapered form in order to direct the air downwards.
