Abstract

Order apparatus.-An illuminated direction or warning signal is exhibited on the face of a driving mirror of a road vehicle, and may also be visible from the back of the mirror. Part of the silver of the mirror may be removed to enable a signal to be exhibited when a lamp or lamps within the mirror casing are illuminated, and - coloured glass, paper, celluloid, &c. may be - applied to the back surface of the mirror. In a modification, the mirror is only thinly silvered, so as to be transparent when illuminated from behind, and a suitable design is arranged between the source of light and the mirror. As shown in Figs. 1 and 4, the signal comprises a double. headed arrow formed of sections 9, 10, 11, each of which is illuminated by a separate lamp 16, 14, 15, partitions 17 being formed inside the casing 7. A switch arm 30 when moved to one side or the other illuminates the lamp on that side, and also the central lamp 15, while when the brake is applied, the switch 20 is closed to light all the lamps, the double-headed arrow being shown in full. A similar arrow may be cut out of the metal back of the casing 7.
