249,608. Parsons, Sir C. A., Rosen, J., Grey, A. W., and Blair, B. Dec. 29, 1924. Conductors, apparatus and processes for making; flat strip conductors.-In an electric conductor formed by winding a number of insulated strands on an insulating core, the core is formed of a plastic material which is forced into the interstices between the strands, the process and apparatus being similar to those described in Specification 16620/08. The strands b are wound on the strip of insulating material h, which may be presspahn, by means of a rotating frame carrying bobbins a, a fixed die c and a dummy core f, which may be hollow, the strip of insulation passing through it. A flattened conductor such as Fig. 6, formed as described, may be used as a core for additional layers, further strips of insulation being introduced, giving the arrangement shown in Fig. 7. In thise case the central core takes the place of the dummy core f. If the insulating strip is of suitable material, such as a bitumastic compound, the separate strands may be uninsulated.
