Synchronizing dynamo-electric machines.-For the purpose of synchronizing, the torque of a self synchronizing motor-converter is reduced after the machine has reached a predetermined speed. This is effected by reducing the starting current as the machine approaches synchronism. In one method, additional resistance is switched into the rotor circuit of the induction motor while the starting reactance is unaltered and in another method one or more of the phases of the starting resistance are cut out. Specification 15875/13, [Class 35, Dynamo-electric generators &c.], is referred to.
