Abstract
247,511. Schneider et Cie. Feb. 14, 1925, [Convention date]. Addition to 244,047. Physical or molucular structure, altering by mechanical treatment.- In a hydraulic or pneumatic joint between the mandrel and tube of a selfhooping apparatus as described in the parent Specification, the fluid pressure cylinder E is enclosed within the tube A and abuts against a plug C screwed or otherwise secured to the end of the tube. The piston F acts through a series of washers f and an annular plate f<1> on a joint G<1> between the mandrel G and the tube, the second joint G<2> being secured between a shoulder on the mandrel and a ring I engaging a plug B attached to the other end of the tube. The mandrel is shown in position for producing a hooping .effect on the portion a of the tube A, and for operating on the remainder of the tube the plugs B, C are removed and the tube secured on the mandrel and cylinder, use being made of removable collars to vary the hooping effect as in the parent Specification. The hooping fluid is admitted at g and the independent joint pressure at e<1>. In a modification, the washers f are introduced between the cylinder E and the plug B or C.
