Siphons.-The legs 1, 6, Fig. 1, of a siphon are connected by a flexible tube 15, and the discharge leg is provided with air-exhausting means comprising a cylinder 9 movable over a hollow piston 13, Fig. 3. Packing 16 is mounted on the inclined face 19 of the piston. The inlet leg may be provided with a cutter end 3 and a hammer sleeve 4.
