Abstract

245,849. Lissa, O. L. de, and Freezone, Ltd. Oct. 16, 1924. Materials, special. - Pump valves of the type comprising a flexible strip co-operating with a plane seat and particularly applicable for use on compression pumps for sulphur dioxide gas used on small refrigerating machines, are made of vulcanized fibre which has sufficient rigidity to bridge the valve orifice and sufficient elasticity or plasticity to give practically a perfect closure. Fig. 4 shows a valve device comprising a single strip V designed to act as the discharge valves for two adjacent cylinders formed in a single casting. The strip V is clamped to the seat by a member 10. A strip of spring steel 12 may be interposed between the strip and the member 10.
