Folding tables combined with shelves comprise transverse members c, d connecting elements a, b, a<1>, b<1> of pivoted X-frames, and shelves a, f, i hinged on transverse members d, d<1>, c<2> so that they rest horizontally on the other transverse members when in use, and can be collapsed substantially flat when not required. The top o is detachable and reversible to serve as a tray, and is held in position by the engagement of stops n in rebates m on the members c, d, in recesses n<1> in the top. The shaft f hinged at f<1> to the member d<1> hangs down when not in use and is raised when the frame is opened by projections g on the frame elements a , b<1> engaging the lower side of the shelf, projections h on the side of the shelf engaging notches in plates h<2> on the frame elements to hold the shelf rigid when horizontal. Similarly, the shelf i is held rigid by the engagement of a bar i' on its lower side with a notch in the member d<2>; the shelf is raised on collapsing the frame by a cam k on the lower side of the shelf co-operating with a projection k<1> on the member d<2> against which it is pressed by a spring l between the members c<2> and the bar i<1> hinged thereto and mounted on the lower side of the shelf.
