Abstract

252,875. Wheeler, W. May 18, 1925. Rack stands.-A folding stand for cakes &c., comprises a pillar 1, with a supporting base 6, having a fixed collar 16 carrying a recessed crosspiece 17 to which are hinged two arms 21, 22 carrying shelves &c. 24. Similar shelves &c. 32 are attached to arms 30, 31 hinged to a collar 15 slidably arranged on the pillar above the collar 16, a block 27 attached to the collar 15 engaging the recess in the cross-piece 17. To fold the stand the collar 15 is raised until the block 27 is clear of the cross-piece 17 when the collar 15 can be rotated to bring the shelves &c. 32 over the shelves 24, the arms 21, 22 being then turned up against the pillar and secured in this position by loops &c. 38 on the end of straps 37 being engaged over projections &c. 35 on the underside of the shelves &c. 24. The base 6 comprises a fixed member 4 and a rotatable member 5 having a recess 10 in its upper edge in which the member 4 engages when the member 5 is turned at right angles to the number 4 and forced upwards by a spring 7.
