244,019. Tod, A. H. Aug. 8, 1925. Extracts, making. -In extracting gelatine from osseine, hot water is continuously run into a vat containing the osseine and the solution is removed at the same rate. Hot water is first introduced into the vat 1 until the liquid attains the required degres of concentration. Inlet valve. 3 and outlet valve 4 connected by a rod 7 are then adjusted so that liquid of the desired concentration is withdrawn from the vat by the pump 5 or run out by gravity and then pumped to a higher vat before parsing through the filter. The rod 7 is detachably connected to the valve 3 so that the vat may be filled at first. Various qualities and strengths of liquid may be collected in different receivers. The process may be carried out in a vacuum.
