Abstract
243,844. Macintosh Cable Co., Ltd., and Amende, F. Sept. 30, 1924. Reel-carriages. - A cradle for rotating heavy articles, e.g. cable drums about a horizontal axis, comprises two arcuate end frames 5, Figs. 2 and 3, connected by cross bars 7 and supported on flanges 10 of rollers 11 mounted on standards 19, the cradle being rotated by racks 6 on the arcuate frames which are engaged by pinions 12 operated by a chain 26 from a crank handle 20. The turning movement due to the eccentricity of the end frames is balanced by a weight 18 geared through the wheels 15, 14 to the axle on which the pinions 12 are mounted.
