Liquids, gases, and vapours, treating with.- Textile materials &c. to be humidified, dyed, stained, &c. are enclosed in a chamber 1 which is first exhausted through the atomizers 3, 4, 20, 21, pipes 9, and a pump 13, then water &c. admitted through pipes 16, 28 from a tank 19 is sprayed by steam admitted through a cock 11, and finally the steam is turned off and the water &c. sprayed by cold air supplied by the pump 13. The process can be repeated. The pump is fitted with two three-way valves 12, 12<1> so that it can be used for exhausting or pumping, and separate atomizers may be used for spraying with air and steam. The atomizers are arranged in sets pointing in opposite directions in perforated &c.. chambers 2, or are separated by perforated &c. plates from the main part of the chamber 1.
