Abstract

281,879. Pahl, A. Dec. 29, 1926. Exhaust, treating.-Filtering-sieves for purifying liquids, air, exhaust steam, exhaust gases, &c. are prepared by dipping a woven wire screen in liquid glass or liquid enamel and then applying charcoal, chalk, or lime thereto. After the coating has been hardened by cooling or drying, it may be saturated with a solution of a chemical which will assist the purification. Fluid to be purified may be passed successively through sieves treated with different chemicals. Thus, exhaust gases from internal combustion engines or exhaust steam may be passed first through sieves which have been saturated with a solution of caustic alkali and then through others which have been saturated with a solution of chlorine.
