Film evaporators.- Rubber and like latex is concentrated by exposing a film drawn from the latex on a rotary surface, to heat, and returning the thickened film to the bulk of the latex. A drum h partly filled with latex is rotated by pinion gear i, k, whereby a film is formed on its surface. Heated air, supplied by a fan a, is passed into the drum by downwardly-directed nozzles g, and after withdrawing some of the water from the latex film, passes to the outlet l. In a modification, a fixed container is provided with revolving discs dipping into the latex. Instead of hot air, other drying media, or vacuum may be employed.
