Abstract
242,537. Meurling, H. F. V. May 13, 1925. Single coatings; multiple superposed coatings. -A fabric having a surface resembling that of finely tanned skin or leather is obtained by impregnating a textile, such as cotton flannel, with a solution of rubber in benzol or other solvent to which talc, or oxide of magnesium, aluminium or zinc has been added, treating the impregnated product with alcohol and subjecting, it to pressure, grinding, and polishing. The pressing, grinding, and polishing may precede the treatment with alcohol. Colouring-matter may be added to the alcohol. The fabric is allowed to dry both after the impregnation and after the treatment with alcohol. The coating operation may be repeated two or more times. Specifications 8039/39 and 6910/11, [Class 70, India-rubber &c.], are referred to.
