Abstract
240,892. Parr, G. W., and Croucher, R. June 6, 1924. Fixed - chamber apparatus, controlling passage of air and gases for.-Comprises apparatus having an inlet and outlet at the bottom of the measuring chamber controlled by a valve, and an air vent at the top adapted to be closed by a valve comprising a diaphragm immediately the liquid reaches it, the diaphragm being placed wholly within the walls of the device and not forming part of one of them. In one form, the inlet and outlet passages e, d are controlled by a rotary valve c and the air vent m by a tubular valve f having small openings in the sides near the top which is closed by a diaphragm h. When rising liquid reaches the openings the valve is moved upward and the diaphragm h closes the port m. In a modification, the diaphragm is held clamped between two rings around the edge of which the air passes. In a further modification such a valve is placed to control an air port between two measuring vessels controlled by a single supply and discharge valve so that one vessel fills while the other empties the air expelled from the vessel filling assisting to discharge the other vessel.
