Other displacement apparatus for the pure supplied in a definite time is dependent on the number of visible oscillations of the'water v I 5 'inthe displacement vessel in that time. The V difiiculty, however, is to obtain uniform and regular displacement volumes of gas at'each oscillation at different speeds of oscillations.
The object of this'invention is to provide" a construction of such apparatuswhich will give equal and positive displacements at varying speeds and prevent bubbling, so that the 5 total number of oscillationsis in direct proportion to the total volume of gas delivered I by the apparatus. v

In these respects the apparatus does not dif-r fer from known devices, but in the present invention the relation between the venting or sealing. tube andthe displacement vessel is I r such that at each pulsationof the liquid in to the interior of the vessel.

Having thus described the nature of the said invention and the best means I know of carrying the same into practical effect, I claim d 1. An apparatus of the character herein referred to, comprising a displacement vessel closed at its upper end, a U-shaped vent tube having one limb provided with an enlarged end and extending into the displacement vessel to a point adjacent the upper end of the latter with its bend adjacent the lower end of a said vessel andit s other limb extending outside the said vessel, means for admitting a hqtnd to the lower portion of sald vessel, and means for adm tting gas under pressure to the upper portion of said vessel.

An a paratus of the character herein referred to, comprising a displacement vessel open at its lower end and closed at its up 'er end, a U-shaped vent tube disposed wi hin the said vessel with the end of one limb adjacent the upper end of the vessel and its other limb extending outside of said vessel, the bend of the 'U-tube being above the lower edge of the displacement vessel, and means for admitting gas under. pressure to the upper portion of said vessel.
