240,791. Toledo Automatic Brush Machine Co., (Assignees of Jobst, C.). Oct. 6, 1924, [Convention date]. Motors, controlling.-A brake for stopping an electric motor when the circuit is opened comprises a member F in the form of a coned cup fixed to the shaft, and a co-operating member G mounted on a stationary support H. The support H is screw-threaded at I to receive the member G, so that by a slight rotation the latter will be brought into contact with the coned cup F. The movement may be effected by a solenoid which rotates the member G against the action of a spring when the motor switch is closed and so releases the brake. A thrust bearing P may be provided between the support H and a sleeve Q on the shaft.
