240,177. Renaudin, A. Sept. 20, 1924, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Pottery kilns; hearths.-In order that a pottery kiln 1 of the " hovel " type may be worked in a substantially continuous manner, the kiln is supported above the ground on columns 6 and is provided with a vertically movable hearth 8 adapted to form, by means of sand seals or the like, a gas-tight joint with the lower ends of the kiln walls. In operation, a hearth; loaded with goods to be baked, is placed on the disc 9 and raised by the movable rod 10 into position; when the baking operation is completed the rod 10 is lowered and the hearth 8 removed and replaced by a similar ready-loaded hearth which is immediately raised into the baking position.
