Gaseous - fuel furnaces; cleaning and preventing incrustation.-In a coke oven, the gas nozzles are duplicated and arrangements are provided by which air under pressure can be passed through one, set of nozzles to burn out carbon deposits while the other set is supplying gas. As shown, there is provided in connection with each pair of gas nozzles 5 a valved branch 4 from a main 3, connected with a blower, and a reversing valve 6, the latter being so constructed as to allow simultaneously the passage of gas from the main to one nozzle 5 and air from the pipe to the other.
