Abstract

239,037. Barbour, H. Aug. 18,1924. Portable turning-apparatus. - Apparatus for trueing the cap seatings in the end plates of water-tube boilers comprises a pillar 1 secured by a T-bolt 3 to a seating 2 and carrying a bracket 4 provided with a bearing 7 for a tool-head 8 rotated through worm-gearing 10 from a belt pulley 9. The tool-head has a cross-slide 13 carrying a toolholder 14, the radial feed of the tool over the seating being effected by a star wheel 15 engaging a fixed projection 17. To adjust the depth of cut of the tool, the head 8 is fed forward through an outer sleeve 18 by means of a screw 21. A number of seatings may be trued without altering the position of the pillar 1.
