237,973. Spiller, H. W., and Smith & Sons (Motor Accessories), Ltd., S. May 5, 1924. Addition to 227,915. Spray carburettors.-In the parent Specification, the carburettor has a number of ducts extending through a cylindrical block and brought into action in succession by a suction-actuated sleeve valve sliding over the block, the ducts being mainly parallel with the axis of the block and bent or turned to deliver on its cylindrical surface near the main delivery passage. The invention consists in making the ducts straight or substantially straight, without. sharp twists or bends, from their intake to their outlet ends. The block 11 is enclosed by a casing 12 with which is formed the main delivery passage 13 controlled bv a valve 14. The ducts 22 - - 25, whose inlet ends 18 - - 21 are substantially at the same level on a conical part 17 of the block 11, extend in an inclined direction through the block, their outlet ends 27 - - 30 being at different levels and controlled by the sleeve valve 31. Each duct has a fuel nozzle 26 and an extra-air admission controlled bv an adjustable ported ring 36. One or more of the ducts may be without a fuel nozzle and serve only as air inlets. The outlet passage 13 may be arranged as shown in broken lines so as to be more in line with the general direction of the ducts.
