Seed drills.-Apparatus for sowing seeds in compact groups comprises a receptacle for accumulating a charge of seeds delivered from a hopper and means for delivering the charge, to a farrow in approximately column form and from a point close to the ground. The receptacle a is tapered and fastened to plates d bolted to a coulter shoe A. The seeds are discharged from it by a rotary valve consisting of a disc having radial teeth g with segmental pockets between them, the seeds being confined in-the pockets as the valve rotates by curved walls i. The valve is driven by means of a toothed wheel h.
