Fluid-actuated valves. - A valve device for regulating and/or mixing gas and air, of the kind described in Specification 106,296, in which the valve member has ports communicating with the fluid conduits so as to constitute a combined admission regulator and a bye-pass regulator, has the valve member formed in two relatively adjustable parts and acted on by a spring or weight through a part of its stroke so that when the apparatus is at rest the valve is held in the position where the regulating ports are just about to open. The valve member comprises two cylindrical parts j, k having their closed ends connected by a bolt m. The upper part has a gas-inlet port b, an airinlet port o and a mixture-outlet port d all cooperating with similar ports in the casing, while the lower part has ports f, g communicating with the outlet conduit and the suction side of the compressor respectively. The lower part is guided and adjusted by a pair of pins p, p mounted on a rotatably adjustable cross-head q and engaging lugs on the valve member. Similarly, the upper part is adjusted by means of a square spindle o rotatably mounted in a cover o<1> and engaging a hole in a cross-piece n and the valve member. The spring t supporting the valve member is carried by an adjustable, abutment in the crosshead q. The casing is formed with a baffle u to prevent the discharge through the bye-passing passage causing a momentary back pressure against the flow of fluid from the mixture discharge port. The valve may be actuated by pressure. acting directly on the valve or on a diaphragm.
