Relief devices ; double and single acting piston pumps; regulating delivery by by-passes.-In a liquid-pressure feed apparatus for saws, the feed is effected by the downward motion of a piston 13 in a chamber 12 to which liquid is forced past valves 5, 8 by a cam-operated plunger 1. An adjustable outlet valve 17 with a spiral groove 18 permits the feed pressure to be adjusted. On the return stroke of the plunger 1, pressure in the chamber 12 is relieved by the opening of the valve 8 and passage 9. In a modified device in which liquid is pumped below the piston 13 to lift the saw during its return stroke, an outlet from below the piston is controlled by a second spiral groove in the valve 17.
