Optical-projection apparatus is provided with an arrangement of plane mirrors at an angle with each other, such that the line of junction passes through the optical axis and is parallel to the straight filament of the source of light. In one example two vertical plane mirrors 11, 12 at about an angle of 70‹ with one another, are placed behind a straight filament source of light 9 by which the slide 5 is illuminated. Additional mirrors 13, 14 at an angle of 45‹ are arranged at the outer ends of the mirrors 11, 12, the combination of mirrors in conjunction with the projection lens L forming an uniformly illuminated image of the slide 5. In another example the two sets of mirrors are arranged at angles of 68 and 38‹ respectively and in a further example only one pair of mirrors at right angles to one another is used.
