Kaleidoscopes. - In projection kaleidoscopes wherein the light passes through a condenser c, a prism d the cross section of which is a regular polygon, and a projecting lens e, means are provided for illuminating the virtual images of the object to be projected. As shown, a prism b, similar in cross section to the prism d, is placed between the light source a and the condenser. The prism b forms virtual images f of the light source which are conjugate with the virtual images g of the centre of the projecting lens formed. by the prism d. Alternatively, other sources of light may be placed at the positions of the images f. A diaphragm may be placed in the plane of the image formed by the lens e, and the image limited thereby may be projected by a second lens on to the screen.
