Abstract
236,103. Schall, D. H. Dec. 8, 1924. Eand or coil.-One end of the brake band 6 has a straight, reduced, prolongation 17 extending beyond the brake band lining 20 and taking slidably into notches 16 in radially extending lugs 14 on the other end of the band in order to keep the ends of the band in alignment as the band is contracted or expanded. The brake is operated by a cranked lever and shaft 52, 28, 30 journaled on one end of the band and pivoted at 34 to a rod 36 located in a conical hole in a bearing member 40 fixed to the other end oi the band. The middle portion of the band is normally kept away from the drom 5 by a bracket 7 on the band having a spring member 9 bearing against a. fixed pin 8.
