Abstract
236,032. Patterson, R. H., and White, R. H. P. June 17, 1924. Electric locomotives. - The motor A, supplied either from a storage battery B or from an external source, drives a differential gear shaft E carrying a crank-disc F at each end, the axles being coupled together and to the crank-discs by triangular frames L. The frame C is spring-mounted on the axles and springs are provided in the coupling frames L to allow relative movement between the shaft E and the axles. Pivoted brake blocks Q<1>, Q<2> act on drums on the shaft E, being tightened thereon by cams U<1> carried by a shaft U. The cams are pivoted to the heads of bolts S loosely connecting the brake blocks, so that as one brakes is raised the other is lowered. The shaft U is rotated by arms V connected by drag links W to a hand lever X or a hand-whael and screw.
