Abstract

235,586. Merten, W. June 12, 1925. Folding seats; securing articles of furniture together in rows.-A pivoted seat a, when in the position of use, holds compressed a spring p which, on the load ceasing, tips the front of the seat member slightly upwards, the seat then continuing its closing movement under the action of its own weight. The flanged disc k, secured by an adjustable bracket h to the underside of the seat member a, carries a finger n which engages the compression spring p when the seat is in use, and the buffer spring q when the seat is folded. Lubricating holes s may be provided. If the discs k are allowed a little clearance between the discs c and the ends of the bolt e, the chairs may be arranged in slightly curved rows, as shown in Fig. 4.
