Abstract

235,441. Morszeck, P. Oct. 7, 1924. Corner joints and strengthening pieces.- The walls of a trunk or the like are interconnected by means of a metal mount carried continuously around the end faces and preferably formed by pressing metal strip into the form shown in section in Fig. 1. The U-shaped arm 4 of the mount is passed over the end wall 1 and riveted thereto at 9, the other arm being secured to the side 2 the edge of which projects into the double bead 6, 7. The lip 8 on arm 4 is forced into a groove formed on the end, and the effect of forces such as A, B, applied to the double corner bead 6, 7, is stated to be to drive the lip more deeply into the groove. The usual reinforcing hoops 10 are applied to the outside of the arm 5.
