Abstract

231,623. Hanman, F. Feb. 11, 1924. Lids. - A groove to seat the edge of the lid is provided internally at the top of the body portion of a trunk or the like by the application to the inner surfaces of the walls below the upper edges thereof of L- shaped wooden or other non-metallic members 1, Figs. 3 and 4. As shown in Fig. 3, the member 1 may consist of more than a single thickness of material, and it may be in part covered by material 6 which also covers the outside of the trunk body. A metal strip 5 may be applied to the upper edge of the part 1. The grooves are applied to three sides of the trunk and may be provided also at the rear side, the upper edge of the body thereat being cut away to prevent the lid from fouling it. The lid may have a peripheral flange 8, Fig. 4, or a wire, adapted to bed on the edge of the body. Specification 190,641, [Class 66, Hollow-ware], is referred to.
